Hosting a child

All children on the program are aged between 7 and 12 years of age and are placed with one host family for the duration of their stay.

Our visits generally take place during late May & early June, around the May Bank Holiday week.

The charity organizes a daily program of activities for the children to participate in from Monday to Friday between the hours of approx. 9:00am and 4:00pm. The children spend evenings and weekends at home with theirhost family although there are opportunities for them to socialize with the other children outside of the normal program.

Host families must live within commuting distance of our current Activity Centre at Lapal Scout Group in Halesowen and must be able to drop off their child each day so that they can take part in the activities program. Children may be dropped off from 8:00am and picked up between 4:00 – 6:00pm.

The children travel to the UK with Interpreters who are on call 24/7 to provide support and assistance to host families in the event of communication issues or a problem with their child. Host families will also be able to call upon other experienced host families and our Group Coordinator for help and support throughout the visit.

We aim to bring each child to the UK for 5 consecutive years in the belief that the cumulative benefits of our program help to boost the children's depleted immune systems and improve their general health and well-being

Where possible, we endeavour to place each child with the same host family each year, however we never ask any host family to make a 5 year commitment when they sign up. That said, many hosts form very strong bonds with the child they care for and go on to host year after year.

Hosting a child can be truly rewarding.
